Take a vacation to Bay Beach, Wisconsin

If you live in Wisconsin or are planning on taking a trip to Wisconsin you should plan on taking the time to visit the Bay Beach amusement park and the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary located on the northside of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Bay Beach is an amusement park. It is located in Greenbay, Wisconsin which is Wisconsin's oldest community. Along the way you can stop at a historical marker which is near red banks, where Jean Nicholet became the first European to make contact with local Native Americans in 1634. Bay Beach is located on Beach Drive. It's yearly schedule is that it's opened late May thru mid August 10 a.m. to 9 p.m daily; late August 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily; mid April thru late May and September the park is only open on Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Bay Beach has all kinds of amusement rides for the smaller child as well as, the older child.

For the smaller child the amusement rides they have are the merry-go-round which the child can pick from a horse, zebra, chicken and many other kinds of animals to ride on, boats, cars and motorcycles which takes the child for a small circle ride around and around and finally a helicopter ride which when riding in them by pulling up on a bar inside the helicopter makes it go up and by pulling the bar down makes it go down. There is also ponies to ride that gives the child a ride around in a circle.

For the older child the amusement rides available to ride on are the tilt-o-wheel which is a ride that when inside continues to go all the way around at certain times during the ride, swings that you sit in that are put up at a certain height then are flown around, ferris wheel, the zig-zag which is a ride you sit in and they continue to zig-zag in and out of each other and finally the bumper cars which are little cars you ride in and try to bump into the other cars around you while you yourself is getting bumped into.

Some of rides are for the both the smaller child as well as, as the older child. There's a train that takes you for a ride around the park and a 60 foot slide that has six spots available to slide down on. You sit on potato sacks when sliding down. Adults have to ride with smaller children when going down.

Bay Beach is also an affordable vacation spot since all tickets only cost twenty-five cents a piece. Most rides only take two tickets to ride except for the bumper cars which take three tickets. They also have ponies available for the smaller child to ride they cost one dollar to ride. Admission is free as well as is parking.

Besides amusement rides Bay Beach offers picnic areas where you are able to bring in your own food to grill out or else if you would prefer you can visit their concession stand which offers such food as hamburgers, chips and hotdogs. There are a couple of playgrounds on the grounds for children to play on as well as, a wading pool to swim in. For the person who loves to play sports there is a softball field, volleyball court and horseshoe pits.

Right across from Bay Beach is the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary which is open all year long. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and winter hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. This sanctuary features animals that are native to Wisconsin. The sanctuary also offers these hands on exhibits which consist of the "Kingdom Corner", "Habitats and Succession" and "Wildlife Observation Platform". There is also a beautiful nature center, gift shop and cafe. For the person who likes to hike or cross country ski there is a 700 acre trail.

With all these great assets on its side Bay Beach is a great affordable place for a family vacation.
